1. Introduction and background
1.1. The MPS wishes to upgrade all Command and Control CAD desktops, which were originally outside of the scope of the Next Generation Desktop Windows 8.1 Deployment programme. The CAD desktops were part of the now defunct Command and Control Futures Programme. This upgrade project will support the MPS’s corporate objective of achieving the implementation of Windows 8.1 across the whole estate and address operating system obsolescence within the MPS estate.
2. Issues for consideration
2.1. The current CAD desktops are nearing the end of support life and need to be replaced/upgraded to ensure continued support and maintenance from the SIAM support providers.

3.1 The cost of £733,000 to upgrade the Command and Control CAD desktops to Windows 8.1 will be funded via a virement from the ANPR programme capital plan.
