1. Introduction and background
1.1. The Strategic Radio Project team is supporting the MPS to continue to manage and maintain its critical radio service, should the Home Office’s Emergency Services Mobile Communication Programme (ESMCP) suffer further delays and allows the MPS to be fully prepared and technically certified when the ESMCP is ready to be deployed.
2. Issues for consideration
2.1 The extension of the Strategic Radio Project team is necessary to enable the MPS to align with the Home Office’s extended timetable for the ESN deliverables.

3.1 The MPS requires capital funding of £0.64m to cover the costs of the ESN Strategic Radio Project team. This funding is provided for in the capital plan.
