1. Introduction and background
1.1. The current support and maintenance contract will expire on the 30th April 2017. Oracle Sun hardware underpins core operational services.
1.2. The renewal of the support and maintenance contract for Oracle Sun hardware will support transformation projects which will see the MPS’s ICT systems migrate from legacy Data Centres to the strategic Data Centres. Part of the transformation will see a reduced ICT footprint within the new strategic sites onto a consolidated platforms.
2. Issues for consideration
2.1. The MPS would be exposed to an unacceptable level of risk, if this contract was not renewed. The MPS could be at risk of data loss and service outage. Oracle has confirmed that providing support on a time and material basis will not be available.
