Joanne McCartney, Deputy Mayor for Education and Childcare, hosted the 6th annual Healthy Schools London Celebration Event on 27 June 2019. Over 300 people including 55 London schools celebrated their achievements. Dance performances from Merton Park Primary School and Beam County Primary School and Elutec provided energy and spectacle. There were presentations from 4 London schools: William Bellamy Primary School, Bessemer Grange Primary School. Stanhope Primary School and Cubitt Town Junior School about how they are supporting pupils to be more active and build resilience and self esteem. Other speakers included Leon Taylor, Olympic Medalist, Performance & Wellness Coach and Mentor; Elaine Wylie MBE, Founder of ‘The Daily Mile’ and Paul Lindley OBE, Chair of Child Obesity Task Force. The event celebrated the successes of the London schools that have achieved their Silver and Gold Awards.
