25 October 2018 - 23 January 2019: Workshops

We ran three identical free pre-application workshops to support you along the way, covering everything from networking skills, to developing and pitching ideas and advice from past winners and finalists.

These are now over but for access to additional training enter the competition now to be eligible to attend an applicant training session.

17 February 2019: Applications close

Get your applications in by midnight on 17 February 2019.

26 and 28 February 2019: Applicant training

We will be running four identical sessions of additional training open to any student who has applied to the competition.

There will be a morning (starting at 10am) and afternoon (starting at 2.30pm) session on 26 and 28 February 2019.

15 March 2019: Semi-final round

This year the expert judges will pick their top 30 entries from each award to go through to the semi-finals.

All semi-finalists will receive additional training ahead of having 2 minutes to pitch their idea to the expert judges.

Ideas will be judged on:

  • originality: what makes your idea new for London? How is it better and smarter than what's already out there?
  • capacity for commercialisation: how will your idea make money?
  • clarity: make sure you describe your idea really clearly
  • relevance to the aims of the award/challenge: make sure you link your idea to the award
  • positive impact on the environment and society: what are the wider benefits of your idea?
22 March 2019: Finalist training

The expert judges will pick their favourite 5 ideas from each award to progress to the finals.

The 15 finalists will receive one-to-one coaching to perfect their pitch before they go in front of the panel of celebrity judges.

25 March 2019: Finals and awards event

The 15 finalists will pitch their ideas to the panel of celebrity judges and the winners from each of the three awards will be announced.
