The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced plans for a new, fair-priced, green energy company, available exclusively to Londoners this winter.
London Power is a partnership between the Mayor and Octopus Energy, the only “Which? Approved” energy supplier in the UK.
London Power is set to launch this winter, offering all Londoners:
- Fair and competitive pricing, always
- Automatic rollover on to London Power’s cheapest comparable plan after fixed term plans end
- Electricity generated from 100 per cent renewable sources
- Hassle-free experience with simple energy plans, quick online switching, and world-class customer service.
A different kind of energy company. Just for Londoners.
Through his Energy for Londoners programme, the Mayor is committed to helping Londoners save on their bills and supplying the capital with energy from cleaner sources. Every year Londoners spend an estimated £3.5bn on gas and electricity household bills and the Mayor believes they are not getting fair energy prices.
More than a million people in the capital are living in “fuel poverty”, the highest number since records began, with household incomes that fail to meet the cost of heating and powering homes properly.
On top of this, London has some of the lowest rates of switching between providers in the country, high levels of pre-payment meters usages (PPM), and low levels of energy efficiency measures, smart meters, and solar panels.
London Power is a different kind of energy company. Any profits made by City Hall will be reinvested into delivering the Mayor’s social and environmental goals.
