We’re on a mission to remove 1 billion plastic bags from the environment

And Bagboard is the company we started to help do it. All through our belief that people and businesses can work together for the good of the world.

Step one in our grand plan is to replace single-use plastic bags used in shops across London with our eco-friendly paper bags. Because businesses pay to have ads on them, we can give them away to shops for free. So that’s a win for shops, a win for the environment and a win for consumers. It’s also a win for businesses who get their ads paraded around town with that lovely added bonus of knowing they’re helping to save the planet.

Step two kicks in when consumers interact with our bags by scanning them with our app. Every time this happens, we remove 100 plastic bags from the environment. So rather than advertisers interrupting people’s lives, we’re developing a culture where people actually want to engage with advertising. Because when they do, good things happen.

But that’s not all we’re doing to reach our 1 billion bag goal. For every person who signs up, we make a thank you donation to our friends at the Plastic Bank, who remove 100 single-use plastic bags from the ocean. And after signing up, we’ll also remove an additional 200 bags for every friend or family member they refer.

To get this billion bag goal started we're funding the first bit ourselves. We'll then hand over to brands to help us over the finishing line. Brands that have seen us build up a community of people who believe in using advertising as a force for good. They seem pretty excited so far, and so are we.
