What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

With high mobility, 92% of pupils from ethnic minority backgrounds, above average FSM and pupils starting Nursery well below National expectations, even getting to National standard was challenging.

What actions did you take?

Selborne sets exceptionally high expectations for all pupils. Barriers to learning are not an excuse for low standards. We adopt a highly systematic approach with a strong focus on consistency and personalised learning, using AfL. We track pupils closely, deliver outstanding teaching and expect more. We constantly strive to be the best and our passionate staff support and care about each individual pupil.

What were the outcomes?

Judged as Outstanding (2017), Selborne achieves high outcomes for pupils. All barriers to learning are overcome.
