What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

Through robust tracking and pupil progress meetings, we were able to identify:

  • High level of pupils with English as an Additional Language
  • Pupils with multiples barriers to learning.

What actions did you take?

  • Teachers having a secure understanding of pupils and their needs.
  • Good knowledge of pupils entry data and starting points; therefore planning from these to ensure no gaps.
  • Staff INSET regarding supporting pupils with EAL.
  • The use of visuals and vocabulary within the environment to support pupil learning.
  • Flexible use of support staff.
  • SLT involved in supporting intervention groups and completing in-depth impact analysis.
  • A fluid approach to intervention where we consistently review and evaluate the impact of interventions for pupil progress and attainment.
  • A whole school reflective and constructive ethos towards pupils learning; aiming for all pupils to succeed in reaching to their potential.

What were the outcomes?

  • Raised outcomes for pupil attainment and pupil progress.
  • Well-equipped pupils ready for their transition to Secondary school.
