What problems were in your school and how did you identify them?

Beaconsfield has 95% EAL and a large group of pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder

What actions did you take?

We used the "Assertive Mentoring Programme" to develop regular, detailed conversations with pupils on learning. This means all pupils engage in high quality discussions about their own learning every term. Pupils set their own learning priorities and with the guidance of staff evaluate their own performance.

What were the outcomes?

Our progress scores in Reading, Writing and Maths over the past three years are in the top 10% of schools.
