Stepney Green Sixth Form College
A focused CPD programme enabling inexperienced teachers of A-level to develop subject knowledge expertise through close peer work with an independent school.
Sharing Academic Capital
Sharing Academic Capital was led by Stepney Green Sixth Form College, with expert input from City of London School. Teachers benefited from peer-to-peer lesson observation, online peer mentoring, and the sharing of resources and good practice through the Academic Capital network.
Teachers reported they had gained knowledge of methods, strategies, and resources that made them more effective A-level teachers. Student targets were exceeded. There has been an increased uptake in identified subjects within the local partnership.
If teachers feel more confident, or if teachers feel they’re doing the right things, because they have the opportunity to compare themselves with good practitioners in the City of London, definitely that will improve results.
