Community Engagement

The Community Engagement team connects City Hall to London’s varied communities.

Our team works on giving London’s communities a platform to be seen, heard and resourced to bring about change, and to be more actively engaged in the City’s decision making.

Storytelling is a strong theme in our work: every Londoner’s story matters, and every community should have a voice in City Hall and an opportunity to shape the future of London.

We also deliver the GLA's Civil Society Action Plan, which is focused on recognising, supporting and building strong partnerships with London’s Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector.

We also help the Mayor connect with a range of communities on key moments of commemoration and celebration.

This has included the Mayor’s celebration of the centenary of Poland regaining independence, Windrush Day, Gypsy Roma Traveller History Month and the launch of the Africa in London campaign.

In the next few months, we will host a service for the Remembrance of the Transatlantic Slave Trade and its Abolition, a day-long event focused on Europe in London and Black History Month.
