Celebrating London's Local Charities

LDNgov Social Media Takeover for 2019

To celebrate Local Charities this December, on Monday 16 December, the Greater London Authority is inviting a chosen local charity to do a social media takeover to showcase the day in the life of the organisation and celebrate all the hard work that Local Charities contribute to their communities.

Local Charities Day in December is an annual initiative run by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, which shines a spotlight on the work of Local Charities who work tirelessly to serve their local communities and make significant contributions to their local area. The day aims to give these organisations a platform to share their stories and encourage more people to get involved and support their causes.

The Greater London Authority is one of the biggest funders in London and is always looking for ways to profile and celebrate the work of its grantees.

What is a Social Media takeover?

The successful local charity will take over @LDN_gov social media channels (Twitter and Instagram) from 9am-5pm on the 16 December, giving them a platform to share with over 50k followers an insight into the world of a Local Charity in London. This will be an opportunity to reach new audiences, make new connections, through engaging with followers and telling the story of your organisation.

Prior to the takeover you will also take part in a session with City Hall’s digital communications team to workshop your proposal for the day long campaign. A member of the team will also be on hand throughout the day of the takeover to support the campaign.
