About the scheme

Cleaner Heat Cashback aims to:

  • boost commercial energy efficiency across the capital
  • improve air quality by reducing harmful N0x (Nitrous Oxide) and CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions
  • help achieve the Mayor’s ambition to make London a zero carbon city by 2050

The Mayor recognises London’s air quality as a public health crisis. It is estimated that thousands of Londoners are dying every year from long-term exposure to pollution. In 2010, London air pollution was linked to 3,000 hospital admissions and the economic cost of these health impacts is estimated as being up to £3.7 billion per year.

Cleaner Heat Cashback is part of a comprehensive range of measures being rolled out across transport, infrastructure, business, schools and health centres, to help reduce harmful emissions in the capital and to reduce public exposure to air pollution. Cleaner Heat Cashback is part of the Mayor's Energy for Londoners programme and follows on from the Mayor's Warmer Homes domestic scheme, which supports fuel-poor households to cut their energy bills.

Cleaner Heat Cashback is being delivered in partnership with the Energy Saving Trust and Kiwa.
