About the campaign

London is known all over the world for its diverse music offer. We produce some of the world's best selling artists and have the the world's most popular music venue. But challenges at grassroots level are threatening London's place as world leader in music.

Sounds Like London is all about supporting music at grassroots level.

Grassroots music venues

Music venue taskforce
London's grassroots music venues are the lifeblood of London's music scene. They're where artists like Amy Winehouse and The Rolling Stones made their mark.

But a third venues have closed over the last decade. Even though numbers have stabilised, there are still risks, which could mean less opportunities for new talent.

We want Londoners to support their local grassroots venues. There are gigs taking place every night during Sounds Like London.

Emerging talent

Little Bird
14,000 performances by up-and-coming artists take place every year. Whether performing in a grassroots venue or busking, new artists are building their reputations every day across the city.

Sounds Like London will be showcasing some of this amazing talent, both in grassroots venues and in some more unexpected spaces.

Women in music

YolanDa Brown
Two-thirds of UK live music acts feature all-male line-ups and only five per cent of DJs, producers and sound engineers are women.

In the anniversary year of the first women getting the vote, we're shining a spotlight on the fantastic women across the industry. As well as women headliners, we'll be hearing the stories of some of the women who work behind the scenes.
