Funding and more opportunities
Culture Seeds grants
Do you have an idea for a community-led cultural project you would like to see funded? Culture Seeds is part of the Mayor of London’s Strategy for Culture; Culture for all Londoners. It's part of the Mayor’s ambition to put culture at the heart of local communities.
As part of Africa in London, we have invested an additional £20,000 for June-September 2019. Successful applications will need to be community-led and spotlight African creativity in London. These micro-grants will be announced at the end of the season. Find out more about on how to apply and attend an information session.
Africa in London mentoring scheme
We have launched a new mentoring scheme, enabling young London-based creatives aged 18-35 to learn from established professionals and make new connections in the creative sector.
Applicants should have a strong vision for expanding African creativity in London. This programme will run from October-December 2019 with mentees benefiting from 1-2-1 mentoring sessions and on-the-job shadowing.
The scheme aims to:
- enhance skills, knowledge and tools needed to be a modern producer
- provide greater access to and understanding of the production process and the different approaches to presenting creativity
- expand contact networks within London’s Arts and Cultural sector
Applications are now closed.
This programme is being delivered as part of the Mayor of London’s ‘Africa in London’ initiative, which aims to put African cultural events in London firmly on the map. Through this mentoring programme our aim is to capacity build people to expand African arts programming in London.
Mentors are made up of ‘Africa in London’ partners from across the Culture sector, which includes Arts, Events, Fashion, Funding, Heritage, Media, Music, Visual Arts and Policy development.
The Mayor of London’s volunteering programme offers people the chance to build new skills.
There are thousands of opportunities – from one-off events to longer-term commitments. If you are an events organiser you can also share your volunteering opportunity with a large pool of Londoners. Submit your event information.
