OKHA is a monthly book club session where the focus is literature, poetry, and plays by African, Caribbean and Afro-Latinx writers.

We'll be hosting our next OKHA on July 5 at The Curtain. For this session, we are reading 'Bone' by Yrsa Daley-Ward and alongside our usual book club session, we are hosting an exhibition with works by Afro-Latinx people and an in-conversation about queerness and erasure as part of black pride season. More details can be found on our Eventbrite page.

The discussion centres on Afro-Latinx identity (specifically in Brazil), to call attention to the erasure of Afro-Latinx people throughout history, from where they have come from to the discrimination they face today. Being Afro-Latinx is to be in a constant battle with being seen to exist in many societies.

Tickets are free, with the suggested donation of £5 to support the OHKA book fund.
