The Mayor of London published his Culture Strategy, ‘Culture for all Londoners’, in December 2018. Since then the Mayor, his team and the Mayor’s partners have been working hard to deliver on the priority areas for London:
Love London – helping more people to experience and create culture on their doorstep.
Culture and Good Growth – supporting, saving and sustaining cultural places and spaces.
Creative Londoners – investing in a diverse creative workforce for the future.
World City – a global creative powerhouse today and in the future.
1,609 of you shared your views on the draft Culture Strategy in 2018. The most popular theme from the draft Culture Strategy was ‘supporting venues and workplaces used for culture in London’ – selected by 52 per cent of respondents. Over half of you (55 per cent) also thought that the biggest challenges for culture in London were that local arts venues, libraries and community centres were closing down, and the high cost of workspaces. The policies put in place by the Mayor since 2016 have helped to address these important issues.
