Dear London Assembly Memebrs and Mr Khan can I propose an idea that might just help elevate cyclist and traffic congestion in and around London. My wife cycles as a commuter every day and I am concerned about her safety on the roads. Already she has had three near misses.
What I propose! The Green Track
Can we, you as I have no idea how to go about this to be honest, contact National Rail and implement cycle lanes for commenters next to the main train tracks going in and out of London. Obviously with a fence to separate them.
Every train track has a large service area and green space either side, we could use one side to go into town and one to come out. The cyclist could enter via a simple ramp at most stations. In my case Crystal Palace and head off in a safe environment straight into town to alight at any one of the main London stations.
I know this may seem a complicated idea to start with but surely laying some Tarmac either side of the tracks is a lot cheaper than trying to cross cross London with cycle paths where let's face it the traffic and lorries mainly occupy still to this day.
The cars will keep their space and the cyclists will get theirs.
I would be happy to talk with someone about this idea and help in some way to maybe put a proposal together. Again I have no idea how this works so would need guidance from a London assembly planner.
I propose we call this the The Green Track.
Is this possible. Comments welcome.
