Thousands of small to medium-sized private hire operators are being forced out of business by TFL's proposed license renewal fees.
Back in April, the public carriage office asked for comments on a proposed increase to private hire license fees.
Many businesses gave their input on the consultation and have been ignored.
Previously, a ‘small’ operator, with no more than two vehicles, would pay £1,488 and ‘standard’ operators – all those with more than two vehicles,
regardless of the size of their fleet - would pay £2,826 for a license lasting five years.
The proposals have not been fairly considered and furthermore, the PCO have delayed processing license renewals, so they can feed their coffers.
This will kill the private hire sector and the thousands of companies who support these businesses.
This behaviour MUST NOT CONTINUE and Sadiq Khan needs to step in, before these small businesses are closed down.
