As a result of the cycleway works in Dulwich Village, the area has become a virtual no-go area for pedestrians, and traffic has been at a standstill for weeks. Local shops are suffering and will surely close as the works continue to blight their businesses during the most important part of the year for retail. The result? Fewer local shops, more car journeys to major supermarkets, in other words exactly the opposite of what this expensive scheme - introduced in the face of opposition from residents - was supposed to produce. Time to stand back, take stock and learn from your mistakes, TfL.
