The proposed 24 hour ULEZ will be introduced on 8th April 2019 and it states that any HGV Drivers within the new charging zones would be required to meet the latest exhaust emission standards or pay a daily charge of £100 in addition to the congestion charge of £11.50 per day. Also, in October 2021, this charging zone will expand out to the North and South circular roads.
These plans were proposed to start in 2020 but the Mayor has brought it forward to 2019, this does not give businesses a chance to comply. There are no discussions or technology in place for HGV’s and nothing has been approved to date.
It is clear that London’s air needs to be cleaner and a lot of solutions have already improved the air quality within London. We do not object in principal to the ULEZ, but we would ask the Mayor to engage with us in a meaningful way before imposing this major change.
• Are you concerned about the proposed ULEZ?
• Are you aware of these new zones coming into place?
• Have you as a business already acted?
Let us come together and unite as a voice for HGV drivers within London. Please discuss and let us know your thoughts and objections regarding this proposed plan.
