Croydon Council have passed the buck onto TFL regarding the closure of the vital Road Bridge at Blackhorse Lane The chaos with the traffic in the local area effectively causes long tail backs with traffic not necessarily in rush hour periods to Central Croydon , Addiscombe, Norwood, Shirley and Gravel Hill. The Mayor says he is cleaning up pollution but this scandal has lead to poor air quality especially around the Woodside Green, Ashburton Park, Addiscombe Road and Shirley Road. The Council waffle on about wether to patch the bridge or rebuild it and accepting that there is a problem with the tram line running directly under it which would require closure and extra buses to cope with the tram users. However in the interim period a new bridge should have been built. Should the small bridge over Woodside tram stop already repaired have major structural problems due to an increased weight of vehicles the whole area will grind to a halt. If you live in Greater London it would appear the Mayor's attitude is tough sugar ! Can Sadiq Khan meet me at rush hour at East Croydon Station and we can do a tour of the area albeit a slow crawl by car.
