The interior of new "routemaster" style buses are appalling:
1) uncomfortable - passengers either sit in straight backed church pew type seats or have to climb a high step to get to an alternative. Many of the seats face backwards while it is well known that many people can't travel facing backwards because it makes them feel sick.
2) bad for health - although millions has been spent on adding opening windows these are few. The "air conditioning" is a joke as it belches out heat. One hot day recently I had to get off the bus before I fainted in the interior heat. In winter the interior is cold.
3) Dark and depressing - the "vintage" maroon livery is dreary, depressing and dark. For partially sighted passengers this must be a nightmare, Oh to get back on a bus with cheerful blue seats and yellow poles and handles! Whoever chose the miserable livery completely failed to carry out a substantial survey on what passengers require. It's not good enough to copy the old fashioned routemasters as a gimmick when ordinary people have to travel on them every day.
Please, please can new buses avoid this horrible livery.
