Environment

London is one of the greenest cities in the world. There are over 8 million trees, spread across numerous parks, gardens and streets. In many ways, London’s environment is improving, but in others it’s far from what it should be. London’s air quality is so poor it’s responsible for the early deaths of thousands of people every year, and for the poor health of many thousands more. Around half of this pollution is caused by road transport.

The London Environment Strategy was published in May 2018 and sets out how to make London greener, cleaner and ready for the future.
