The starting point of this debate is flawed. Parks are subject to the same barrage of helicopter and airplane noise that our London streets are. There are times of day when it is so bad that I go for a walk along the street for the road noise to drown out the noise from overhead due to planes and helicopters. Trees and shrubs can't protect you from that noise. It will only get worse if they insist on going ahead with a third runway at Heathrow. I am surrounded by parks: Brompton Cemetary being the largest closest public park. There are private gardens accessible to the public. Battersea Park is not far. Kensington Gardens is not far. BUT no matter where you go, the parks do not screen out the overhead noise pollution.
