How can we prevent Network rail from being lazy on their maintenance of their land and track side vegetation?
They are decimating green spaces which are far from tracks (no impact on tracks or passengers safety) as they cannot be bothered to maintain and prune vegetation regularly.
Cheaper to call in a contractor to clear the land completely.
This seems to be prevalent across all of London with no notice provided for chopping down trees and no valid reasons.
A FOI I recently requested redacted lots of information.
Conflicted with Network Rails reasons.
Did not provide notice for cutting trees.
Claimed it was emergency work which it clearly is not as this was planned months ahead no permissions were obtained.
Impact on wildlife and environment is huge and they are not being held to account.
