Sometimes I feel that Air and Noise Pollution is not really taken seriously enough by those responsible for London, and neither care of its detrimental affects to London.
In my area of Palmers Green, there is a tremendous amount of pollution generated from the very busy North Circular in Palmers Green N13 and nearby are schools/homes/shops.but of course they are not the only ones to be affected from this areas Pollution because as we all know Pollution is carried along with the wind. (there have been meeting group meetings with local MPs in the past about this crossing of which nothing positive materialized, a clear indication that our London Mayor does not really care or does not have the real power to address certain areas).
I, and other residents have been asking Enfield Council for many years now to arrange for various suitable evergreen Trees and other Seasonal plants to be planted in the centre bay and nearby vicinity of this centre crossing in order to hinder the affects and dangers of pollution, moreover a greener area will surely help entice visitors to the area which will undoubtely benefit the areas trading establishments.
We are not asking for the impossible or anything overly expensive. In fact the lack of lushness in this specific area is actually a continuing, very costly affair on many different levels.
The problem is that Council staff do not like residents asking for something positively apparent to be provided or amended in their local area, they seems to be under the wrong impression that the Local Authority is a private business and that somehow residents are somewhat inferior human beings. This a pitiful because great things can be achieved together for the benefit of the Borough which in turn benefits the Local Authority, instead of continuing on the road of ' Local Council vs Residents'.
In essence, caring for ones area is something that should be supported and encouraged by all Local Authorities.
