As a Black Londoner I was so pleased and proud of our city when we elected our first Muslim Mayor. Also when we were defiant in our resistance to Brexit and our support of the Labour Party.
I am still very troubled, however. Why is there no official recognition of the barbaric institution of African enslavement? There would be no financial heart to the City of London without the wealth generated by the kidnap and enslavement of at least 70,000,000 million African people.
Why is there no City Hall reception on August 22nd? Why is the Mayor absent from the only celebration of the strength, courage and defiance of the African resistance at The Bernie Grant Arts Centre?
When can the people who helped to build, sustain and develop this city's economic, technological, cultural and artistic future expect to be honoured for their extraordinary contribution?
Over to you Mr Khan.
