    The Government has said, “We recognise all councils are facing pressures, so we are introducing a one-off funding guarantee to ensure that every council sees at least a 3% increase in Core Spending Power next year before any local decisions on Council Tax rates. We are funding this by repurposing the Lower Tier Services Grant and a proportion of the New Homes Bonus underspend.” What discussions, if any, have you had with the Government on how this decision will affect the GLA budget for 2024/25?

    TfL’s current planning assumption, as set out in their current funding agreement with the Government, is that national fares will increase by 4 per cent in March 2024. What indication, if any, has the Government given you over when they will decide on the March 2024 fare rise?

    There has been a £70m one-off adjustment from business rates in the 2023-24 budget owing to uncertainty regarding potential repayment of retail relief. This is due to the difficulties billing authorities have had in forecasting the level of retail relief to be granted in 2022-23 and 2023-24 as a result of £110,000 cap per business entity imposed by the Government.
