My Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) programme will run until the end of March 2019.

Upon conclusion, the programme will deliver a report which will include internal and external recommendations for operational improvements on strengthening communities, safeguarding the vulnerable and stopping the spread of extremist ideologies.

I am currently considering advice from my officials on building upon City Hall’s existing countering violent extremism activity beyond the end of March 2019.

My CVE programme has not been designed to specifically divert individuals away from extremism but will identify opportunities to improve and renew efforts to tackle violent extremism in the capital.

The programme’s recommendations will be shaped by experts, stakeholders and all of London’s communicates having delivered the most comprehensive listening exercise in this policy area. This has included my City Hall officials engaging over 1400 individuals representing experts, stakeholders and London’s diverse communities, the running of a formal consultation offer, open to all Londoners, which received over 1300 completed responses, the delivery of small grants to civil society groups to engage at arm’s length with ‘hard to hear’ London communities and the commissioning of research with a representative group of over 1000 Londoners.

I have invested £400,000 to deliver this programme.
