Question

There are housing providers in London, including at least one council according to an Inside Housing investigation (https://www.insidehousing.co.uk/news/news/nearly-50-councils-use-unregistered-fire-risk-assessors-59762) who use unregistered fire risk assessors to assess the safety of homes. Do you share my concern about this practice and what will you do about it?

I am deeply concerned about this and the broader issue of how ‘competence’ is defined and regulated across all professions interacting with building safety. Following the Hackitt review last year, I wrote to the Government to express my concern that this workstream was being entrusted to industry. I will continue to put pressure on the Government to ensure this work is robust and that timescales do not slip.
