Question

The Department for Transport annual reports, Reported road casualties Great Britain, in 2016 and 2017 were delayed due to issues in validating data from the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). These delays led to this publication, related data and reports being published in September rather than June each year. What steps has the MPS taken to avoid delays affecting this data for 2018?

Various technical and data quality issues have led to delays in processing the road collision and casualty data set for London over the previous two years. Regretfully, this had led to the stated delays in publication of the national report.

The Metropolitan Police Service has been working collaboratively with senior representatives from Transport for London and the Department for Transport to understand the issues and ensure that the 2018 data for London is validated to allow the national publication of the data in June 2019.
