In 2017/18, more affordable homes were started in London through my Affordable Homes Programme than in any single year since funding was devolved to City Hall, meeting my target for new affordable housing starts.

The 2017 London Strategic Housing Market Assessment estimated a need for 42,800 net new affordable homes per annum in London to fully deal with population growth and the backlog of need. As I have made clear, delivering enough homes to meet this need will require a step change in powers and investment from national Government.
