Unfortunately, it is not feasible to use London Underground trains on the Gospel Oak to Barking line as they are not compatible with an overhead line power system. Transport for London (TfL) has however begun introducing spare electric London Overground rolling stock onto the route to provide a service until the new class 710s are ready to be introduced.

TfL is sorry for the inconvenience caused by the reduction in the frequency of the service at weekends, but regrets that it expects this to continue until the new trains arrive. This will allow enhanced maintenance to continue on its limited fleet at weekends, when trains are less busy.

TfL is continuing to press the manufacturer, Bombardier Transportation, to do all they can to bring the new trains into service as soon as possible.
