Question

Recently the decision was made to close the front desk at Belgravia Police Station. However, I, as the local representative along with the local Safer Neighbourhoods Panel was not consulted. Please can you review your processes on such matters to ensure adequate consultation takes place?

The Mayor

The proposal to close the front counter in Belgravia Police Station was made in the consultation on the MOPAC/MPS Public Access and Engagement Strategy, published on 14th July. The consultation ran until 6th October. When the consultation launched, and during the consultation period, my Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime wrote to Assembly Members offering to meet and invited their views. Chairs of Safer Neighbourhood Boards were also written to.

Many Assembly Members and SNBs made their views on the closures known and, in fact, you raised the closures directly with me during Mayor's Question Time on 17th September.
