The MPS has been able to provide data related to the authorisation of s60 orders that were borough wide between February 2012 and 15th May 2018. Please see Appendix 2018/0972 to find the information by borough.

A S60 authority is based in the prevailing intelligence picture at the time of request.

The request for a borough wide order is sometimes required, as it reflects that offenders may travel outside of their own local area to commit acts of violence on others.

A s60 is authorised by a chief officer and can, if appropriate, be reviewed following its initial authorisation.
