The Mayor

Policing numbers including officers, Police Community Support Officers and police staff are agreed with each force as part of the budget setting process for each financial year. Therefore we are not yet able to confirm establishment numbers for future years.

However, the budget setting has concluded for 2018/19 and the establishment numbers are confirmed as follows:

2018/19 establishment

Police Force

Police officers

Police Community

Support Officers*

Police staff**

Met Police

British Transport Police

City of London Police

* Police Community Support Officers undertake traffic warden duties

** Police staff in the MPS and City of London Police are not warranted officers. The BTP figures include a number of warranted officers who undertake duties across the force (pooled resources) and that are part funded by TfL, for example detectives in national investigation teams.
