Answer for Taxi Drivers Competing

The Mayor

London has the best and most qualified taxi drivers in the world and I am determined to put in place measures to allow the industry to flourish both now and in the future. A key part of this is protecting our two-tier system, which is fundamental to a thriving trade. Please see the measures laid out in my Taxi and Private Hire Action Plan for more information.

My Deputy Mayor for Transport, Transport for London and I continue lobbying Government for increased support for the trade to enable it to continue to flourish as part of the two tier system.

The one Zero Emissions Capable (ZEC) taxi will cost £55,999 after grants. Were a driver to also delicense an eligible vehicle through the Transport for London  delicensing scheme this would offer an extra £5,000 to put towards the purchase of a new ZEC vehicle.
