To ask the Mayor how many facial images does the Metropolitan Police hold on their own Facial Recognition Database and to ask what (if any) plans have been made to merge these holdings with the Police National Database.

There are 2.9 million images held in the MPS custody imaging system. These images are kept indefinitely. Images taken as part of the facial recognition trial are held temporarily and are deleted after three months.

There are currently no plans to merge images taken as part of the facial recognition trial with the Police National Database.
