The draft consultation document 'The Mayor's vision for a diverse and inclusive city' published on 15 June 2017 mentions that you have created a new community engagement framework. When will this framework be made public? How can stakeholders influence the community engagement framework and the consultation plans for other Mayoral strategies?

The GLA is developing a new, more strategic, approach to working with London's diverse communities. The new framework for community engagement, referred to in the Diversity and Inclusion vision, is part of that ongoing work. Some of the key principles of this approach include: developing relationships with groups that are often under-represented in civic life and that have not worked with City Hall before, using more participatory and community based approaches to engagement, and strengthening Mayoral policies by bringing in more co-ordinated community insight.

Since that work is still in progress and is taking place alongside the work on the Diversity and Inclusion strategy, we do not currently have a date by which we intend to publish the new framework for community engagement. But we do currently hope to be able to explain our new approach to community engagement in more detail at around the same time that the final Diversity and Inclusion strategy is published.

In the intervening period, we are actively engaging with civil society groups and a range of other communities in order to develop our approach to community engagement. We are, of course, open to any groups that want to be involved in that work.

More broadly, each statutory strategy team is drawing up their own consultation plans. In many cases, the Community Engagement team has helped advise on these and brokered links to new community groups or organisations.
