Question

The Taxi and Private Hire Action Plan 2016 says TfL will be "Giving taxi drivers better access to our facilities, such as toilets within our estate, from January 2017". TfL confirms that "a trial is underway at Oxford Circus and Warwick Avenue Underground stations to give All London and Suburban taxi drivers' access to the staff toilets at the two Tube stations". Why are Private Hire drivers not being given the same access as Taxi drivers?

I am committed to help support the world's most qualified taxi drivers, who have all put in years of study in order to earn the right to ply for hire on London's street.

While the current trial is for licensed London taxi drivers, public toilet information is available on the TfL website and is regularly promoted to both taxi and private hire drivers through the weekly licensing email they receive from TfL. Further information is also available on the taxi and private hire licensee pages of the TfL website: www.tfl.gov.uk/info-for/taxis-and-private-hire/licensing/existing-licensee.
