Improvements for cyclists on Tooting Bec Road are being funded as part of Quietway 5 (Waterloo to Norbury) and are due for delivery in spring next year.

The proposals include cycle lanes that are delineated from the rest of the carriageway using flexible bollards to improve rider comfort and safety. These segregated cycle lanes will be in both directions between Dr Johnson Avenue and Aldrington Road. To the east of Aldrington Road the northern side of the footway will be widened and converted into a shared footway for cyclists and pedestrians. This will lead to a new toucan crossing over Tooting Bec Road, which will provide access to Riggindale Road and the southern section of Quietway 5.

TfL is continuing to work with LB Wandsworth to progress legal changes to paths on the common land either side of Tooting Bec Road to permit cycling, which will improve connectivity and route choice.
