Taser discharge is based on an officer's assessment at the time Taser is used and based on 'potential moderators to Taser effectiveness', and not intelligence such as the subject's known medical history. Taser operators are trained to use the National Decision Making Model to assess the appropriate use of force.

Recording of all Taser deployments is by a Home Office form used by all UK police forces, and this is monitored nationally.
