The Schools' Air Quality Audits' initiative will include a requirement for participating schools to become STARS accredited (if they aren't currently).

TfL's STARS programme is open to all London schools, nurseries and colleges and is delivered in partnership with the London Boroughs.

Borough School Travel and Road Safety Officers support schools throughout the accreditation process. They will help schools to create a School Travel Plan and select the most suitable activities to address the problems/issues identified including safer routes to schools and, now, routes which minimise exposure to air pollution. A STARS school can expect to see an average 6% reduction in the number of trips made by car to their school.
