In some European cities it is not customary to deliver building materials and shop deliveries after 6am. Could the same attitude be applied to London to stop congestion in the City?

A quarter of daily freight trips in central London already take place between 19:00 and 07:00. I believe we can do more to encourage businesses to change their deliveries to outside busy periods.

For example, TfL's 'retiming' programme is already helping businesses plan more efficient deliveries, particularly outside the morning rush hour.

My new Transport Strategy will aim to further improve the efficiency of London's streets by reducing freight trips made in peak times in central London.
