Following the recent guidance published by NICE, will you consider using the new London Plan to encourage living rooms to be built at the back of developments, or the furthest distance from a road?

Yes.

The current London Plan, and supporting documents, already suggests that design solutions such as changes to the internal layout and setting back of buildings should be explored by developers.

Through the development of the new London Plan and London Environment Strategy I will put in place stronger policies to ensure that design measures to reduce exposure to pollution continue to be used.

All planning applications that are referable to the mayor are assessed to ensure that they comply with all London plan policies, including any that relate to exposure to air pollution.
