I recognise how important it is for passengers to be informed of significant works that impact on their journeys at the earliest possible opportunity.

The delay in notifying passengers of the works at Lancaster Gate was unacceptable and I have been clear with TfL that this must not be repeated.

The delay was due to TfL reviewing whether to fully close the station or carry out sequential lift works, examination of the duration and efficiency of the delivery plan, and sequencing with other TfL works in the area (the East-West Cycle Superhighway).

However, the notice provided in this instance was not good enough and I apologise to those affected.
