The MPS has given authorisation for the deployment of baton rounds on twelve occasions between 2011 and 2016 ahead of public order incidents. However, they have never been used.

However, the MPS will always use the most appropriate tactics and endeavour to minimise the use of physical tactics. An example of this success can be seen as baton rounds have never been used.
