Question

How many vehicles with illegally removed diesel particulate Filters (DPFs) have the Roads and Transport Policing Command apprehended? What action was taken against the owners of these vehicles?

The police do not have the specialist mobile analysis equipment which would enable enforcement of this offence at the roadside.  A visual inspection would not identify such vehicles.

MOT testing however would identify the fault and result in an MOT test failure, and police may be called to assist other organisations in their investigations such as those by Trading Standards and/or the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
